I'm curious about what guitars the following players used:
Buddy Emmons
Terry Bethel (best tone imho)
John Hughey
Sara Jory
Did everyone use the same (Peavey) amps?
Did they use separate rack/effects units?

The only ones I remember that used amps OTHER than the Peavey 1000's on stage were;
Sarah Jory, Nashville 400 and Tom Brumley, Fender and another amp (can't remember which) in stereo.
Anyone else remember as far as amps go? |

| JD Used two old Evans amps w/ bw speakers, Herby used his usual rack setup with 15" bws, Hal used a DPC 750, Mesa pre-amp with two 15" BW cabs (maybe a Lexicon fx unit?), Crawford used two Nashville 400s, Joan & Johnny Cox used Marrs 15" cabs w/ Walker amp?? that's all I remember right now, but I did not hear bad tone out of anyone! It was a great weekend! |

If memory serves, and sometimes it doesn't, Sarah Jory plays an Excel I believe. No matter, she sounded great on

Of course Jay Dee Maness played a push-pull Emmons.
And Lloyd Green played his Sho-Bud.
And Tom Brumley played his Anapeg and a Rickenbacker Frypan.
And Herby Wallace played his Mullen.
All what you would expect...
Cindy Cashdollar played a triple neck Remington with a real mellow tone. It contrasted nicely with Herb's pedal Remington, which made it easy to tell who was playing which notes (they did a duet set).
Al Brisco played a Carter.
John Hughey played a ZumSteel.

Brumley had an Evans on his right and his '69 Twin with 2-12" JBL's on his left. The Anapeg had a new single coil pickup in it.

The color of the chair escapes me but it was foldable and soft enough to absorb the shock of accidentally dropping it on the cushion during my haste. I meant to get the manufacturer's name on the bottom but time wouldn't permit. A thousand pardons for the oversight, but it got hectic for me at times. I had three radar guns, a search warrant, and two posses standing by and still couldn't find my rear end on some of the tunes, so a chair was the least of my worries.
As for the processor, it was a Digitech Genesis lll. It was a loaner from Jimmy Crawford, similar to the Pod, and from what I've heard, being phased out. I met a dealer in the audience that told me there's a blowout sale on them currently, so I liked it well enough to order two from him. I believe they're less than $150.00. The amp settings I used on the 1000s were all flat, or at twelve o'clock.

Does anyone know which Digitech processer Buddy was using? I think he used a 2112 for a while, is he using it again?

| Thank you for the site info, Bob. I don't have the Genesis near so I can't give you that information. Before coming to the convention, I set the Peavey 1000 knobs on flat and rolled the Genesis controls around until it got good to me. When I get everything unpacked, I'll take a look at the settings. |
