When I was a young boy,my dream was to be a basball player. Not just any baseball player,
but one that played for my favorite baseball
team "The Brooklyn Dodgers".

I tried out for the Dodgers and they signed me to a contract in left field. No not playing Left field, but something more important, selling Hot Dogs.

I watched most of the game when one of the bosses saw me and said,,hey you,"thats me", are you having a good time? I said yes but these Hot Dogs stink and you expect me to sell these?? he said,,Your outta here.

Then I heard the sound of a steel guitar and I was hooked, I dreamed of being a great steel player, I dreamed that I was calling the chords out to Spade Cooley,,and then I woke up.

Years and years later,I dreamed of being a guitar salesman, and that dream came true. It
turned out to be the best dream of my life.

But WAIT,,,,there's another dream. I dreamed
of being a great Nashville Steel Guitar player who would know all those famous people in Nashville. One that picks great,a guy that is one fine salesman and man does he
know the ropes of the music business.

I wanted to be just like him,but there is only one so I can dream cant I? I would like to think
I could have a great collection of those Black Emmons guitars. You know the guitars that sound better than any other guitars,.

I would love to be a pilot and fly my own airplane. I always wanted a 51 Beechcraft Bonanza wowee..And how about this..A Stinson
Voyager (Franklin Powered) no relation to Paul. and a 61 Piper Super Colt tail wheel conversion with 29 knee levers.

But WAIT I'm still dreaming,,I'm dreaming of
a BMW 750il V12 in Black that I could have bought from Reba McIntire,,,wow oh wow..and then a smaller BMW 325 ti that I could just cruise around Mc Donalds Drive Thru's and order Super Sized French Fries and hand the gal at the window a $100.00 bill and say,,hey
keep the change.

But WAIT ,,I would also want a nice pickup truck lets say mmmmmm like a 94 Pickup Truck yeah thats the one,to use to go to those great shows and hang around with the big guys and gals in Nashville.

But Im dreaming I know ,,but WAIT..I like a great 1977 BUICK low mileage like new,,I dont think I really need it,but I want it for taking out the older chicks in Nashville that dig old Buicks and cool old dudes.

Boy would I love to have a brand new Plymouth
Satellite Sebring that flys when the hammer is down,,one that has two doors and a hardtop 440,slapstick with low mileage like maybe,,lets pick a number??? OK how about lets say 2,800 K on the clock. I would want it to smell new and I wouldn't let Smiley ride in my cars.,,and finally a 1965
Ford Thunderbird that I can have restored the way I would like, and that would have to be a hardtop,,OH BOY..

Then I would be happy when I grew up to be like this,,,But WAIT..I would like to have pretty gals selling steel guitars if I had a music store,I would like to be like the Steel Guitar version of Hugh Hefner
and adverturesome like Howard Hughes,,wow what a way to live, and I would write a book on how to stay married for 50 years, to 50 different women, women with no cabinet drop and when the cabinet shows signs of dropping.
Hey Im Outta here.

I would like to write stories to all the boys and girls who play steel guitar, I would like to have a lot of money,,friends?? they come when you have the loot.

So you see when I grow up I would like to wear silk Pajamas when I play my steel guitar
the same kind that Hugh Hefner wears all the time,no cowboy clothes for me,just those cool silk monogrammed PJ's...but in order for this dream to come true I would have to own my own music store,,,so I can if I can convince this character who calls himself the Nashville Steel Lord to move over and let me in..so Move Over little
Dog,cause a Big Dogs Movin in..yeah I mean you BOBBE SEYMOUR,,and sue me if you want.

Hey bOb..he's bugging me again...Grrr Im moving this over to "Lunatics on Parade"

Black Emmons Guitars are his life. The gals come second..the hell with my being a Baseball Player..give me the "simple life"

Thank You..I just woke up. PS dont let Smiley
ride in your new smelling car,,he will change
the aroma to vintage when he sits down
edited for smelling ..I mean spelling. And I dont think this thread is long and boring do you Mr.Roberts and most of all,,I dont think any of you care about my dream, but I can dream without you, cant I ? The answer is yes.

You think I'm nuts? If you read all this,it is you who are nuts, this is what kept me out of the Army.

Jody......you mean a '65 T-Bird with the sequential directional signals don't you?
Never got to have one of those either...but I was fortunate enough to have the 1947 Stinson Voyager-150 with the small tail. It was my first.
Never got to be a baseball player but I did belong to the Knot-hole gang and we got free tickets to sit in the center field bleachers on Thursday nights.
I did get to do a show with Spade Cooley here in Oregon at the Tillamook County Fair back in the 1960's. What a guy!
I've probably sold a hundred steel guitars during my lifetime but no one ever said "thanks"..... A fellow over in Burns, Oregon, popped up a couple years back. He purchased my little triple-8 Fender back in the mid-1950's.
I've never had the collection of black Emmons guitars but the one I purchased back in the early 1970's still plays like a dream.
Those Piper Colt tail wheel conversions were a little squirally on the ground as their fuselage's were so short coupled. Whew!
They can cause you to find religion in a hurry.
I never quite made it to "50" but one good one is all a guy really needs. They're hard to find tho' and I understand you have one of the very best.
The closest I got to being on the Opry was when Jerry Byrd drove me from his home to the Ryman where I picked up the reserved seat tickets he had for me, seats in the front rows of the balcony, as viewed from the stage, located at about a 45 degree angle from center stage.
You've had a good life, with lots of bumps but don't dream any more about being like somebody else. You are a wonderful person the way you are and have gifted nearly everyone you've ever met and that's as it should be.....for that was JODY.
Just keep showing up here and sharing with the rest of us that never quite made it to anywhere............ Okay? Have a great day.

Jody......you mean a '65 T-Bird with the sequential directional signals don't you?

Yes Ray,but I went to the junk yard and had those parts installed on my 84 Chevy Caprice
Coupe and it really looks cool. The three on each side tail ligts are wired in sequence.

And to You My Cowboy friend Gene. What you said about me goes right back at you.

I always wanted to be a Cowboy, too, but to Casey there is only one real Cowboy, and her Cowboy hero is Gene Jones.

Casey told me that "Cowboy Gene" should be in the Steel Guitar Hall Of Fame and her grandpop agree's. Casey knows the good stuff
when she hears it. So do I.
