It took some finding but I have managed to obtain a copy of this LP from 1963 which I have seen mentioned on the Forum before.
There are some interesting steel guitar parts - does anyone know who was playing? - it doesnt say.
If anyone wants to hear the LP e-mail me and let me know. |

One of my favorite early records and yes it certainly was the Big E. My favorite cuts were 40 Miles Of Bad Road and Rable Rouser.
And yes, I spelled that correctly. Straight from Bobbe's spallin' buk !!

Now you've got me chasing the past. I remember an album he had out that had liner notes to be read during or before the song. One struck me, and correct my faulty memory of the liner note. Only been 40 years.

| This album with Buddy playing on Duane Eddy,s Twang A Country Song and Jimmie Day,s Steel and Strings album should be mandatory listening for any player who wants to know what to shot for on steel guitar tone and volume pedal control.Also while you are listening have any of the endless amount of devices that are used between the guitar and amp,electric boxes ,processers,super volume pedals,digetal delays,etc. improved on the sound of these two albums of fourty years ago??? TV |

Right on there, Tom !! But I'm thinking there is another album with DE and BE. Those songs aren't the ones I recall from the album I bought in Germany, mid 60's. The ones I mentioned earlier aren't listed and I could never forget them. Maybe I'm just getting too old or worse yet, alzheimers !! Heimer's !! Didn't they have a Grove or something up near Womelsdorf ??

Right on Tom, perhaps those old Emmons push pull's and Sho Bud's had "the tone to the bone" that every gadget known to mankind still can't get. Paul the only Duane Eddy album with Buddy that I know of is the one metioned in this post. I wonder if there was a different version released in Europe with additional tracks? The place you refer to in Womelsdorf was called "Himmelrich's Grove" My Dad heard Hank Senior there. It was shut down for many, many years and reopened in the early 70's for a season. I lived a mile away at that time and remember Barbera Mandrell playing with her dad, Louise and Erlene playing in the band. By the way, Barbera kissed me when I told her I liked her show. It cost $2.00 to get in. I remember Jerry Reed also played there that summer.

| In Europe, RCA albums were either British or German pressings. I have a German pressing of this album and there are no additional songs. |

| Hi Clive there were acouple of tracks not released blue eyes crying in the rain,but that did find its way on to a box set,the LP or CD released in 63 is the same in all country,s duane did record a version of buckeroo with al petty on steel this can be found on the antholgy box set rhino records,I have live cuts of duane and buddy with albert lee playing together etc,IMHO there has not been a better CD than Twang a county song its about time they got together and did a follow up other wise time will pass by again forty years is a long time to wait? |
