Many thanks for the replies in getting to the bottom of this. My dad is 70+ yrs old and has always had a fondness for the steel part in this tune.
Whenever I hear the tune I try to concentrate on the steel, and usually find some additional subtlety I either forgot or never picked out before.
It's really tough to get it all in one listening.

I have my flights booked and will be there in St Louis. I almost decided I couldn't do it several times too.
The thing that tipped the scales was Buddy playing.
I still wanted to go, but to see and hear Big E pickin' was really a motivator for this long, long voyage. |
