I posed this question on another thread and got no response so thought I'd start it on it's on thread. I've played for fund raisers for the SGHOF and saw advertisements for several of them across the country. I'm just curious about where we stand financially. Does anyone have any information about when we can expect to see a SGHOF? I've never heard anything on the subject other than fund raisers. Just wondering!

As Roy points out there IS a SGHOF. Just not a BUILDING. I'm not aware of any plans to rent or buy a building -- I don't think it would have a prayer of paying for itself. The fundraisers go to help Scotty and crew with expenses related to the Hall of Fame. Proceeds from our annual Michigan show, sponsored and facilitated by the one and only LTZinn, are shared with Scotty for the benefit of the SGHOF. As you mentioned, there are several other shows throughout the country that do the same.

Last time I was there it was in a hallway or foyer in a hotel basement, but that was quite a few years ago -- one of the first years at the Clarion. That reminds me, I need to go back one of these years.

What Smiley says is true, to an extent.

But in the "basement" is an entire complex of meeting rooms, a huge auditorium, hotel offices, a bar, large foyer... it's the hotel's CONVENTION CENTER. It's nicely carpeted, furnished, etc, just like the rest of the hotel. Probably nicer than the homes of most full-time steel players.

What blows my mind is that the hotel ALLOWS the SGHOF to hang up all the plaques, WHICH STAY UP THE ENTIRE YEAR! It's a tremendous amount of wall space that could be used by the hotel or sold to others for display purposes.

But the hotel does make a sh!tload of money over Labor Day, you betcha.

that reminds me, anybody been by the Hall of Fame to see Shot Jackson's Sho-Bro there lately?

Greg,
The CMHOF is a BIG JOKE,just like the CMA.
The CMHOF is,slowly but surely, becoming the
R&RHOF,Southern chapter.
