After sharing the following with Ricky, he thought I should post the following email:
Graham,
I, too, am indeed saddened to hear of the demise of your "Rebel" site. Far more than any steel guitar web site yours
provided a glimpse into the minds and hearts, and indeed, talents of the steel players who make up the modern
recorded history of this instrument. The compendium of those vignettes of the very minds of musical thought spanning
some 55 or 60 years of history will never again be duplicated. It was a repository to some of best knowledge ever
gathered in one place. It is, in a word... irreplaceable.
Thank you and Ricky Davis, and any others who participated in this selfless endeavor.
If there's a spot for genuine contributions to the steel guitar in the "Steel Guitar Hall of Fame" in St. Louis, one must be
saved for you and Ricky since I consider yours as important as those of us who grace that wall.

I have to say that this email, along with many others I received and the comments on the first post I put up went a long way in causing a change in my mind regarding putting the site back up, hopefully, in the near future.
My thanks to you all who commented and/or sent emails. We certainly are a very special "family".

would just about be bursting out of my chest.
What a wonderful compliment from a wonderful steel player - thanks Lloyd; thanks Graham;
thanks Ricky; thanks to all contributors; thanks to b0b and this great Forum.
We've got to keep this site afloat.

It was, and hopefully will be again, an incredible resource for all steel players, but especially for those of us outside the USofA, where there is little or no background or tradition of PedalSteel....IP

WEll the inspirational words from Lloyd are truly humbling, to say the least.
Rebel(Graham Reid) and I have discussed this insightful encouragment from Lloyd and are in aggreement: "The Show Must Go On"...
Rebel is working very very hard on converting to Mp3 right now; and this will make the flow go so much better on his part.
I however; still have so much work with guitar restorations and gigs and sessions; that I have just not been up on the tab in some time.
If I can get on the backside of these pieces of history....I plan on crankin' out A-L-O-T of Tab...  
I am so thrilled that Lloyd thought so much; along with everybody else; to encourage such a great resource to stay alive and keep on a tickin'......So be patient and it will be better than ever before ya know it.

I have to agree, it's a fantastic source of information!
To ease all of your time/work constraints, perhaps make it more of an archive site. Instead of needing to update it constantly, just update it when you have the time to do so. The same with the tab. Then make a "What's New" page where you can post what has been added to the site. Just a thought...
The information that was already there would keep most players busy for a long, long time.

| Rebel and Ricky, great to hear you are bringing site back.It has got to be one of the best on the net.I know it has been of great help to me, and is run by two of the best guys around.Have worked support for Ricky and Dale a few times in Scotland,and you could not meet a better more helpful guy than Ricky.I had the pleasure of meeting Rebel at Al Brisco's July picnic a couple of years ago and enjoyed meeting him.Keep up the good work guys. |

Ricky and Rebel. Glad to hear it. This is providing a good service for the Beginner and intermediate player. I wish I had this 60 years ago.
I see a lot of guys have offered financial support.
There are close to 4000 Forum members now and if we all kicked in $5.00 a year, that would Help pay the website costs and associated costs easily. What do you think?....al |
