I've tried several different ones, but the best are soft soled moccassins made out of elk skin. They are sold by a company called Taos moccassins. Here is a link to their web site.

I just got a pair, and they are perfect for playing steel. I couldn't be more satisfied. |

Mike, I just looked up their web site and would like to try some. Which ones did you get, #836 or #700Ecs?
Thanks, Merle |

I got the 700 E Merle. I tried a set of double soled moccasins and found that they didn't provide enough flexability. The 700Es are single soled. They provide all the flexability of playing barefoot, while adding just enough cushion to elimate any discomfort. |

Mike-- thanks for the tip. I have such a wide, flat foot that I always take my left shoe off and just play in my sock. I'll try a pair of these. Maybe I'll look more civilized! At least I won't look like I could only afford one shoe.

Hi Mike:
I couldn't agree with you more. thankfully, I have a dealer of Tao's not more the 10 min. from my front door. I've been playing using them for some time now. not only are they easy of the ol feet, you get a super feel for your pedals, regardless of what type of steel you play. the only downside (LOL) I heard someone say, LOOK,,,,He's playing in his slippers.!! I sort of chuckled to myself and thought, but they sure are comfortable. God Bless

Mike,
Thanks for spreading the word on these. I received my pair today and love them. I went with a pair of 700’s. These things do fit like a glove.
I was a little disappointed with what they said the delivery time would be (2-3 weeks) but to my very pleasant surprise I got them in 2 days! From New Mexico to NYC in two days via the postal service is pretty impressive.
