Just heard on the radio some nice steel guitar on Nora Jones "Cold, Cold Heart." It was a resonator that could have been an old National, and sounded like a 6th tuning - very mellow and very compatible with her style. Anybody know anything about this? Was this a one-shot deal or is this on some of her other numbers. Since she just walked away with all the awards and has a very un-country audience, this is a real boost for steel guitar.

All Music Guide says Kevin Breit played National Steel Guitar on the album. Interestingly, Norah is the daughter of Indian Sitar player Ravi Shankar.

I read recently in an interview that she will be in the studio shortly for her follow-up album, which will lean more towards her country side this go-around. She did grow up in Texas so this hopefully will be a good one.

Isn't it cool that even now a demo as "Don't know why" can win a Grammy. I really think Norah is level headed and who else does Theilonius Monk and Pasty Cline and Hank Williams all in one show. She does a great job on Crazy also. The funk on Cold Cold heart is in the groove.
