Hey all,
I wouldn't be putting this up if I didn't think it was important.
Some certain individuals who got all fired up about the infamous "hippie" post came over to my band's website and proceeded to post rubbish, even after I edited my original inflammitory post.
They attacked me for how I look.
That is not cool.
I didn't know that two wrongs make a right. Since when did that happen?

Chill out on this Melinda....There will always be naysayers and they don't necessarily represent the "silent majority"!
Do your "thing" and don't sweat the small stuff.....

I don't know why they'd do that- if they read the bio's at all, seems to me folks would want to avoid ticking off Miss Kitty!
______ 'em if they can't take a joke...

You're not alone in this kind of immature conduct.......it's sad to say.
Seems to be more and more of it everywhere.
Unless b0b suggests you change your attitude or style..........ignore those who have to resort to name calling or whatever.
Your valid comments will always be honored by the mainstream forum members. Older is BETTER! |

Sorry to hear about that Melinda. Most of the folks who hang out here are friendly, and I had thought that the "hippie" issue was resolved. Certainly in this old hippie's mind it was! |

Melinda, how can I find your band´s website? (I don´t intend to write anything into the guestbook, just curious about your band.)

That Gretsch you're playing looks almost like mine, except mine is a double cutaway. Had mine since 1972. |

Melinda, remember the motto of the French Foreign Legion...."You can live down anything but death."
It works. |

I woudn't worry about it Melinda. People fight here all the time, and then they make up and become friends again later. |

That's a Brian Setzer 6120. It's a 1999 model and hasn't given me a lot of problems. The switch sticks sometimes but I got other switches for it.
I didn't have enough $$$ at the time for a 59 6120, besides, I have played a few vintage and I think the new ones are better.

Melinda, what is the purpose of a bio like that? If you don't mind my asking. |

Melinda, get a manager who knows "show business" and a 6 string lap steel and learn. Rockabilly sounds great with non pedal steel. Playing guitar and singing and then stepping over to the steel and ripping out a solo "standing up" works. There are club managers who do look at bands web sites and would pass on booking you guys. The car clubs down here and the swing dance scene isn't the same scene as you seem to be involved in up there. It's wholesome and retro and hip and fun. I have found alot of people want musicians to succeed if they believe in you. You attract more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. It's all about bopping anyways.
Do you know Evan Groom, a guitar teacher at Monta Vista Music, if it's still there. One thing cool about Tacoma is all the basements, great for bands. |

Hey thanks for all the advice but we already do have a manager. And it's a little rougher up here.
We're not really a cheezy retro rockabilly band. There are already some of those up here.
We're what you call psychobilly and we don't have any problems getting shows.
Thanks tho. It's something I already thought over.

Melinda, I was talking about paying gigs with only one band on the bill, not an underage club with 4 bands competing with each other. |

Ya know, I try to be cool and level headed most of the time...
We DO get good shows. The website sucks so I have to do something to make it interesting. Mostly we did it for our own amusement.
I am not interested in being in a states touring band. I have already gone down that road in symphonies. Being a professional musician would burn not only me out but two other musicians in my band who have been on tour.
If you have any further discussion, please forward it to my e-mail, and we can mudsling there. It does not belong on the Steel Guitar Forum. Thanks.

Melinda, no need to be thin skinned, no one is slinging mud. I didn't know you didn't want to be a pro. You don't have to worry about it, your playing psychobilly. I promise I'll ignore your posts. |
