Does anyone out ther remember a song from the late 70' or early 80's about a fox and an eagle. If so who was the artist and what was the name of the song. I know it's not much to go on but a friend of mine would like to find this song. Thanks
John

I'm not sure of the Eagle and the Fox, but I do remember the Eagle and the Hawk by John Denver...

Are you talking about a song from a movie? "Eagle Versus Fox", late 70s?

I remember the song. 3/4 time. The chorus started with the line "I am the Eagle...". I don't know who the artist was, or who wrote it, but maybe I can find it on the 'net. I'll give it a whirl.

John, I did a Google search on the phrase "I am the Eagle", which yielded lots of references to the John Denver song the Eaagle and the Hawk, and a whole bunch of other stuff, but no references to the song in question. I seem to remember that the song started with the line "there once was a silver-haired fox of great beauty". I searched that phrase and came up with nothing. But surely someone out there remembers the song and who did it....

The Eagle and The Hawk starts out :
I am the Eagle, I live in high country
With rocky cathedrals that reach to the sky.
I am the Hawk, and there's blood on my feathers
But time is still turning they soon will be dry...
It's on John Denvers "Erie" album.

Yep, I found lots of references to the John Denver song. I think the song John's friend wants to find may have been by a Canadian artist, and not have gotten much if any airplay outside of Canada. It wasn't, to me, a terribly country-sounding song, but definitely got played on country stations. Sorry John, I'm plumb out of ideas on how to track it down!

The reason I thought it was a country song, is because this is what my friend called it. Her idea of country may be totally different than what country really is. I just listened to the Denver version and it's not my idea of what a country song is.
