Just wishing everyone on the Forum a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family. If you click on one of the links, you'll go to a web page. On there, you'll find a link for The Christmas Song which features my playing of a jazz arrangement. If one of the websites is down, try the other. If they are both down, come back a little later, or e-mail me, and I'll send you a .mp3 attachment of the song. Best to you all and to all a good night.

WEll Jeff my Brother......that is just awesome.......what a cool listening pleasure...and rendition of the Christmas Song on C6.
For those wanting the tab to this....."don't ask".....I get stuck after the first chord....ha....and then by the end of the song....I'm in the corner of my room rolled up in a ball sucking my thumb.....Just mezmorizing my friend.

What a coincidence! Remember "Handful of Keys"? On hearing this and thinking of Jeff's three-pick technique, I thought of a handful of strings.

I believe that is Jeff's Zum with 11-strings on the C6th neck.
....and see......you don't need 3 finger picks.....ha....just a thumb and 2 finger picks......like Jeff.....and you can play this too..... ....yeah Right.

I'm not sure if that was in Eb or D#,but one thing is certain; it B#!!! Great Christmas present, JEFF! Now,let's see...maybe I could tune my 10th string to Eb,instead of B,and start on the 11th frett...nawww,shucks!
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas,JEFF!!!!

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the wonderful comments. I'm overwhelmed and deeply appreciative. Like Ricky said, I play a Zum D10/11 with an 11-string C6 neck. 2 finger picks and a thumb pick. As many of you know, I study jazz theory a lot, and it heavily permeated the arrangement. Also, some of it was just my own out-of-the-box stuff which works, even though I don't really know why. Anyway, again, thanks so much. |

Jeff: My first time hearing you play and I am surely impressed !! Years ago I sat with Julian at MSA and he was playing changes like this and I winced at one of the changes and he asked me "What ??"
I replied: Wasn't that wrong ??
He replied: There is no such thing as wrong !!
I've since learned to listen better and understand more and a lot of that has come from discussions I have had with you. For the music and the learning
I THANK YOU !!
Regards, Paul |

Jeff-I am impressed, but not surprised after reading all your great posts. I knew then that you are a fine musician.
As Herb says, a little Julian Tharpe in there and maybe Curly too.
But Mostly I think it was original Jeff Lampert...Happy Holidays to You and all the guys on the Forum....al |

Jeff, I downloaded it yesterday and can't stop playing and listening to it. my player keeps snapping at me when I reach to turn it off. My other half is not even a steel fan per sa but she even commented that it was pretty. Even turned down the T V so she could hear and she was a room away at the time. DAMN, my old fingers just can't move that fast !!!
SHEEEEEE I gotta turn this off and go to bed. I'm like a junkie now, I GOTTA HAVE MORE PLEASE ???
