I know I am a little late to this party, but this is John's best CD yet! I did not think it was possible. What is it with these steel guitar heros making their best instrumental recordings while in their 60s???

I bought this one from John at the NTSGA Christmas Party this past Tuesday.

Wow! I did not realize there was so much swing on this CD before buying it. John is such a monster on soulful E9 that people easily forget that he is just as great on C6. In fact, the C6 is where he does most of his fast playing.

This CD has something for every steel guitar fan. John takes on the Ballads Buddy made famous and a few of his own and then includes plenty of swing tunes.

My current "addictions" on this CD are "Undecided" and "Midnight in Old Amarillo." I really like this swing version of "Midnight..."

I think John told me that the guitar player on this one is the old George Jones guitarist.

Needless to say, I highly recommend it!

Yes Frank, John just gets better and better.
What a great player, and legend.

I might add, as an unsolicited testimonial, that John offers rhythm tracks for most of his CD's. These tracks are identical to those on John's CD's except that his steel has been left out.

I practice with these inspiring tracks daily. You will not find better quality. These are professional musician's doing their thing. The same guys that backed up John. I don't mind laying out while listening to the wonderful piano and fiddle breaks.

Merry Christmas to all!

What a coincidence. I've got that one here "on deck" at my desk. Ironically, ahead of it are my recently burned CD's of 3 Conway Twitty albums, featuring you know who on steel.

I've got "Greatest Hits, Vol. 1", "Linda on My Mind" and "Conway".

"Undecided" is one of my favorites from Lost In The Feeling. I have the tracks CD, but haven't tried 'em out. I guess I'm intimidated having glanced at a couple of John's chord charts.

Great music!

That album with Dickey Betts, "Highway Call" was released on CD a few years back. The long jam tune, "Hand Picked" features Dickey, John H, and Vassar Clements on fiddle.

Scott Coney played guitar on that album. An excellent guitar player and great guy. Yeah, he was with Jones for awhile.

John Hughey is tops in my book...I have all of his latest cd's w/tracks and use them constantly to practice with. This latest CD is, by far, the best yet.....some great playing by the other musicians, too. John's just got to keep 'em coming, project after project.....I'll get all of them, too!

This is a "must" add to any collection. John just simply put some of the best on this CD. Not a clunker in the bunch...If you love Country music and a touch of swing ,John delivers. Should be CD of the year.

John is currently in the planning process for another gospel CD and he hinted that he may record a Christmas CD. Perhaps if we would all show some interest, then we could convince him to make that Christmas CD before next December.
