Fellow Formites,
At last, I have met The Super picker, Wayne Cox. This fellow, IMHO, is Very under rated. I went to his home, which is a mare 22 miles, and helped him with a small problem on his Zum. We at last set up our equipment, and, now I feel a little stupid, because, this guy sat there, and listened to ME for quite a long time. Now that I think of it...What did I do to impress him? Nothing, I'm sure...When I shut up, and stopped, and HE started playing, Oh, God, He RIPS with such SMOOTH and CLEAN executions. I was a little selfish, and now I want to say to Wayne, I'm sorry for playing TOO MUCH, and not letting you play more...You are SO Gracious. We had a GREAT time together. So much, that I left my axe and amp at his house to play later this week. I am HONERED to be his friend. He showed a lick to me that BLEW my mind. Guys, for you that HAS heard him, you know what I am saying. For the ones that have NOT heard him, well, what can I say.
God Bless you Wayne, I am looking forward to getting to gether again. You were a BLAST when you played "Witches' Brew"..Note for note, as the "Big E' did it. maybe later, you can show me the program that you used on that tune.

Hello everyone.
Has anyone ever heard Wayne Cox Play steel?
He was telling me the other night that he played at one of the conventions in the past, and that Buddy Emmons had just played his 45 minute slot, and had taken his bar and twerled it going up the E9th neck, never missing a lick. Wayne told me he tried this trick, and said it is IMPOSSIBLE! He had to follow the "Big E", and he told me that he tried to get out of it, but they would not let him. Heck, I wouldn't even want to follow Wayne, he's a Killer Picker. I will be "Steeling" some Cool licks from him, now that we have met.
If you ever have a chance to hear him, your in for a treat.

Hey Ron,
YOu might check out my post on the Forum a few weeks back about the old Wayne/Johnny Cox album "Two of a Kind". Wayne's a hot picker for sure. I've never heard him live but from what he did on this old LP I can say he was hot back then and undoubtedly he's gotten hotter over the years.

Gosh, I think I am blushing! Thanks for all the compliments, but I'm really like those Navy Beans I ate last week...they're just "has-beans" now!

All I can say is.....WHEN YOUR HOT, YOUR HOT!
Hope to catch your Gig tonight or tomorrow night, Wayne. My band is in Nashburg this weekend at Warner Bros. Studio cutting a CD that is to be released in March or April of next spring. They wanted me to go, but, I have a birthday party to host this Sunday for my Son, Jonathan. He turned 4 the 21st of this month. But, As I have said before, Wayne is a Great fellow to know, and to pick along with. I am looking forward to learnig a Lick-or-2 from him in the future. He plays a 12 string that has it ALL on it, and he can use every bit of whats avalible to him.
Glad to know this picker....I am very lucky to live so close to a super pro that will take the time to help me along in my playing.
Thanks again, Wayne....
