Anybody who knows what kind of steel
Jay Dee Maness played back in the Desert Rose Band days?

| He has played a push-pull Emmons for a long time, so I assume he used it on those recordings as well. |

Our lead guitarist introduced me to Desert Rose Band and I immediately fell for JDM`s
catchy licks and distinct style of playing.

| Good place for a short commercial: JD does have a new teaching video out, that shows how he does some of his tricks and licks (including the whole solo to "Misty"). Check "Buy and Sell". |

J.D. has and was playing Emmons guitars # 1199 D and # 1215 D which I sold him several years ago. He has informed me that these are his main guitars through thick and thin. He has tryed several other steels, as his mind is always open to new things, but alas, the Emmons P-P of yesteryear seems to always rise to the top of his favorites list.

| Bobbe's right. Jaydee played an Emmons with the Desert Rose Band. I remember a video they had out in the late 80's called "She Don't Love Nobody" and in that video Jay Dee played a black Emmons. | I saw the DRB 4 of the 5 times they played in and around KC, & Jay Dee had his black Emmons each time. The last time they played was with Tom Brumely though, & I can't remember what kind of steel he played - I think it was a ZB. His style was totally different even when playing those JD licks. It was great. |

| Got to spend some time with Jay Dee today and he is still at the helm of one of his black P/Ps. Two Evans amps, a Yamaha effects unit and a Goodrich unit on the right leg of the Emmons and tone, wall to wall, as only Jay Dee can do it. It was a great time. |

If the numbers are right then he is playing a 1967 Model 1199 D and a 1968 model # 1215 D .

| Just thought I'd let you guys know that a friend of mine here in Texarkana owns one of J.D.'s older Emmons p/p's. His name is Wade Terrel and it's a rosewood, 68 or 69 I think. Great sounding steel. |
