I know this might also belong in electronics, but I'm asking in terms of dobro players.
I'm looking at ways to blend mic and pickup and I searched and didn't find any reference to this one... I'm curious as to how it might compare to a Fishman Blender or Rane AP13... I'm open to comments on those units as well, though they have been discussed some before.
Anyone? |

I have one that I use with my mandolin and acoustic guitars. I'll probably use it with the guitar I'm converting to lap playing with a magnetic and piezo pickup.
I like it better then the Fishman blender. The RANE is probably a better unit, at least it's more flexible with EQ for both inputs. The Presonus only has EQ after the blender. It does a good job of warming up my Ovation mandolin.
I run the preamp into a four channel Furman line mixer that has a Digitech effects unit in the loop and then either feed that to the PA or an RCF powered mixer.
If you have anyother questions feel free to ask. |

Thanks Paul,
I checked it out a little further and realize it won't work for what I need and I'll probably have to spring for the Rane. I want to use my Shure SM98 and the Presonus phantom power is only 12 volts instead of 48 volts. But it looks like a cool unit at less than half the price of the Rane. |

My problem with the Rane is that it has a graphic rather then a parametric EQ. Have you checked out the two channel Raven Labs single rack space unit? I missed a chance to pick up a slightly used one last year for a real good price. |
