I'll be at "Carolyn's" playing Steel with the Beaver Creek Band both fri & sat nite from 9pm till 1am. Think I'll play that lil 66' S-10 Emmons. Carolyn's is Springfield TN's premier little red-neck honky tonk beer joint. "Boy, I hope they've got the cage up tonite". Lots of good Country Music & plenty of Hot Chicken Wings & Cold Brew. Nick

On the 21st I'll be playing steel with the Peter Turner Jazz Quartet at their 10th anniversary gig at Westwinds in Pembroke Ont. I was the original piano player in the band, and they've asked me back for the anniversary gig, on steel. Wish me luck, I'll need it.

Its the woodshed for me. Ol Reece is going to help me fix that though. Good luck to all the steelers that are actually playing somewhere special tonight.

At home this weekend. Last night the drummer for one of the bands I regularly gig with called and said there was a miscommunication about the dates at this particular club, and that we were not scheduled to play. So even though I've had these dates reserved for the past 2 months, and have turned down other work, I will be gigless, unless someone calls me within the next 24 hours. At least having a days notice is better than the last time something similar to this happened, which was about 2 years ago. On that occasion I had already set up all my gear when another band came in to play, so I ended up having to tear down and leave. I told the band leader that I would never play at that club again unless the owner made some kind of retribution, which of course never happened.
My wife is sort of glad I'll be home though, because she doesn't usually see me too much on weekends. -- Marc

My job is a steel players dream come true, doing all the great Darrell McCall, Johnny Bush, Faron Young, Ray Price shuffles. You don't have to go to Ft. Worth to hear the great country classics.

Just got back into town after a long bike ride (FatBoy) from Calif. Got a call to play the Finish Line (just west of Ft. Worth near Wet Willy's on I-30) tonight with Jimmy Hilyear (sp). Never met him, but I hear he's good and it will be tons of shuffles. Stop by on your way back from the Connie Smith show.

John Reese is fishing in Alaska, so I have two weekends off.

I'm going up to Seattle on Monday, though, and I hope to catch Dan Tyack and Orville Johnson at the Tractor Tavern Monday night. Orville says they'll be starting at 9 PM with a dobro duo, and then Dan has a hot electric band that will play.
