My hapa-haole trio, Haole Kats!!! will be playing a few of the days for this year's Hukilau. The site is now live, and can be viewed at http://www.thehukilau.com

The tune "Hawaiian Hospitality" from our CD is one of the background tunes on the site.

Last year's Hukilau was interrupted by Hurricane Jeanne, so they thought maybe October might be a safer bet (although, 'cane season isn't really over until November).

Anyway, if you dig this sort of stuff (retro poly-pop), check it out!

Aloha,
TJW

The Mai Kai is a really cool place! I'd go more often if I lived closer. Wish I could be there, too!

I love the Mai Kai.

Went there for my high school proms ...

Would go at least 2X a year ... just for a treat.

Once ... 4 of us ran up a $400+ bill ... and our dates were not even drinkin' ...

Had my "Farewell to Florida" party there ... last restaurant I ate in before moving up here

Way back when ... if you ordered the "Mystery Drink" ... a topless Hula girl would serve it.

What a place ...

Jeff,

Don't tell me -- it's at the Waianae Mall Burger King?

King K is an odd bird, to be sure...

I just received copies of Haole Cats 2 CDs, and there's some really fantastic music on them!
Beautifully recorded, with some excellent steel work by Todd. A real pleasure to listen - I highly recommend these 2 great CDs . .

I'll definitely be checking them out when they appear at the Mai Kai for the Hukilau this October. It's not very far from here!

Hey Rick -- you're too kind, but thank you.

I also got a couple of Rick's CD's, and as I told him, he has a really good grasp of writing strong hooks, and should be writing in Nashville. My particular favorite is "My Baby Don't Wear Anything At All." A sentiment with universal appeal!

Anyway, looking forward to meeting Rick down at The Hukilau in October. If you're in the south Florida region, come on down. Or heck, even if you're not -- come anyway!

Hey Jeff S., Ft. Lauderdale isn't too bad of a drive from J-ville, really. Hop on 95, and head south! You should plan to come down for it, braddah. It's gonna be a gas.

Aloha, y'all.
