I know alot of people are talking about alot of players at the ISGA, but I would like to make some comments about a true great steel player>>>>>>. "THE MAN" JERRY BRIGHTMAN!!!
1st off, did you see how fast, fast can be on Jerry's opening number???
2nd, how about the tone coming out of the Emmons of his??? Awesome!!!!
3rd, Twin steels, on "Together Again" with the great Tom Brumley, not 1 but 2 Buckaroos doing this song justice, WOW is all I can say.
And too all you folks who missed the Sat. nite show in the Fulakwa room, you missed a treat Jerry showed about 30 people how to play<<<<<.
I myself can't wait to hear a CD release of Jerry Brightman, and I know that others agree its long overdue.
How about your comments on Jerry's performance at the ISGA????

Jerry and I live about 30 Mins. from each other. Jerry and I first met in the mid to late 60's. We were both young kids learning steel guitar. Jerry went on to a great career in music. I'm proud to call Jerry a friend. Jerry you did a fantastic job Fri. nite keep up the good work! I'm also looking forward to your CD project. Till we see each other again, Take Care.

I have to chime in on this one too. I did catch the first part of the jam in the Falawka Room. Jerry was gracious enough to let the others select the tunes, and I think pretty much folded up the knees on the guitar he was playing and still tore it up.

Jerry was 18 when he started playing the Buck Owens gig.

I hope he can come to Chubby Howard's Fairborn, OH show on October 6th, although I understand he's unconfirmed at this time.

Hey Ron,

I wasn't sure anyone noticed that...I did indeed fold up all the knee levers and basically played Bob's set up which has the
A/B pedals in the B/C position...When I lowered the 8th string or other normal knee lever changes, I did it with the bar..yikes...

I hope I didn't embarass myself to bad on
the effort to just find something to play
with the song selection....

Gosh! Check out Jerry's web site at the link he provided.

Best wishes with your SlideStation venture, Jerry. I enjoyed reading about you and where you've been all these years.

I hope we'll begin to see a recording industry that recognizes the market for new artists making new music in the hard core country genre. You know, where you can have a steel intro?
