I just finished listening to Bobby's album for about the 38th time since Friday afternoon. This is the lushly produced album of incredibly beautiful standards, played magnificently by Black. Overdubbed steel guitars play many orchestral and swinging big band horn section parts, and great synth production. Gorgeous melodies, technique, and arrangements. I am completely floored.
My favorite? On A Little Street In Singapore

Herb...
I can't agree with you more. I have had that
CD for about 6 months, and keep putting it in
the player. Man, what a production!! I have been a Bobby Black fan for a long time, and this CD shows exactly why. For all you folks who don't have it, I highly recommend that you get this CD. I think my favorite is
Santa Lucia.

Yeah Herb,
It's Bobby doing what he loves the most. It's a beautiful heartfelt album, and actually might be the most romantic steel album since some of Jerry Byrd's (who loved Bobby's album BTW and let him know it). My favorites are Ebb Tide and Quiet Village. The album is chock full of 50's what we now call "lounge or bachelor pad" favorites. Bobby's tone is gorgeous and his multi tracking is very cool. So how do I really feel about it? I love it. |

Gentlemen, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I enjoy listening to the whole album. I also enjoy Bobby's playing on the Lost Weekend CD http://www.lostweekend.ws
It is a beautiful swing album and Bobby's playing is dynamite. I especially love Harbour Lights.
