Who was playing pedal steel in the clubs around Birmingham in the 1970s?

Andy.
The day I got out of the Air Force (April 15,1970), I stopped at a club [Forestwood Corall] outside of Birmingham on Highway 78 west, for a DR Pepper.
Johnny Gore and his band played there. Joe Kaloc played Steel, what a great Steel player and what a band. Those guys could really play Country music the way it is suppose to be played.
Cowboy Eddie Long played with a group at a club over around 5 points close to the fairgrounds if I am correct. I cannot think of the name of the club, seems like it was in a shopping center. I do have senior moments.
I am sure there were others but those were the only two I remember.

I played a week or two in a joint called "The Boom Boom Room" in Birmingham, probably about 1972 or 73. It would have been with Billie Jo Spears.

That group with Johnny and Joe was great! Country Boy Eddy had them on his early morning program for some time.
