Andy.
The day I got out of the Air Force (April 15,1970), I stopped at a club [Forestwood Corall] outside of Birmingham on Highway 78 west, for a DR Pepper.
Johnny Gore and his band played there. Joe Kaloc played Steel, what a great Steel player and what a band. Those guys could really play Country music the way it is suppose to be played.
Cowboy Eddie Long played with a group at a club over around 5 points close to the fairgrounds if I am correct. I cannot think of the name of the club, seems like it was in a shopping center. I do have senior moments.
I am sure there were others but those were the only two I remember.

I played a week or two in a joint called "The Boom Boom Room" in Birmingham, probably about 1972 or 73. It would have been with Billie Jo Spears. |

That group with Johnny and Joe was great! Country Boy Eddy had them on his early morning program for some time. |
