I can't make it this year. I can only afford one expensive trip a year and this year I went to Dallas.
I plan to be back next year though. See y'all then.

To my pleasant surprise, it looks like I am going. I have a free Delta voucher for agreeing to be bumped off an overbooked flight. Now, I need to find a room. Anyone want to rent some floor space in their room?
How close is the Hotel to the airport? Is there a shuttle service between the two?

We hate that we will miss Smiley's debut at the convention ( I know he was counting on my to do his make up!!) but we know he's gonna be great. |

Frank, I believe the airport is about 15 Mi. from the hotel. We use the Metrolink to get to the hotel and you can get off right by Busch Stadium and from there it's about 2 blocks to the hotel.Very handy and inexpensive. My wife and I have only missed one Conv. since 1982.Lot's of things to see and do in St. Louis. I think the Cardinals'have a home game on Labor Day. Ken |

Thanks, Ken. I would hate to get a rental car, but if I have to stay in another hotel, then I may have no choice. |

Yes, I'll be there. Fred Layman says I'll be 30 feet away from him and I would never doubt what Fred says. I don't have a booth or anything, but I guess I'll be tethered to Fred's booth to keep me out of trouble or something like that...

Frank, I think both overflow hotels are an easy walk. I've stayed at the Adams Mark, and it is just down the street - less than 5 minutes walk. And I've used the LRT and it is real user-friendly. |

The Raddison Hotel......handling the over-flow, had rooms just the other day and for the same prices as the show palace hotel. They were nice folks do do biz with. See you in St. Louis! |

Paul.........what a NEAT IDEA! I'd love to do that HOWEVER...after that 4,866 mile roundtrip drive to Dallas a couple of months back.... my wife said that even tho' she's deathly afraid to fly, she'd gladly fly first before another long drive in the country during the same year.....if'n you know what I mean? BESIDES....I'm looking at a two-piece Rick Bakelite that was mishandled by "shippers" a few months back.
I sure couldn't handle it if something like that were to happen to my BIGSBY!!! if'n you know what I mean.
I would consider driving half way to meet you someday for a photo shoot....if that was a possibility? |

Ray-I didnt really expect that you would be able to haul that monster all the way to the show-it would be less of a challenge for me to bring mine there-but I may have Pee Wee Whitewing's first triple there instead as he asked to play it again |

It will be great to meet all of you Forum members . It is my understanding that there is a round trip direct shuttle from the airport to the hotel for $20 as well as the train to Busch stadium for $3.50 each direction. I was told the train station is a maybe 2 blocks away..
You will all recognize me, I will be wearing jeans and sneakers...oh yea, and I still have most of my hair..
see ya there.

I have my room booked and am looking for a decent air fare. As for the shuttle, is that $20 really round trip, or is it one way? |

I was told by the Sheraton folks that the shuttle from the Airport is $20 Round Trip, That used to imply both ways , but this is 2002, year of the Aurthur Anderson Accounting system, so it might mean something other than that now ! We may have to read the fine print.

Are the CARTER folks going to take a FORUMITE PHOTO of all of us happy pickers?
(If so, where and when)
Are the CARTER folks going to pass out special stickers (as in Texas?) to help make the Forumite stand out a little?
WHERE will the Forumites tend to gather just so we can group up before the show?
I haven't been to St.Louis since 1978 so am in the dark about the standard procedures at events like this. |
