As I stated on another thread, I found a Regal Dobro in a store with a Quarterman cone for $160 worth of a trade. I got it home and cleaned the nasty-a$$ed cone of all the hair and chrome polish on it, sanded all the glue and residue from inside where the cone rests, replaced the spider with a cast aluminum one from Stewmac, and got a clearance sale case from GC that was intended for a Larivee for $20- original price, $179. so for a total investment of @ $230 I have a pretty dern nice Dobroish instrument. Nice to learn on, well protected, looks good and sounds pretty good for what it is. I'm stoked!

All you got left to do now is pick that thing - hey maybe you don't know it but Jimmy Heffernan is teaching a workshop in Atlanta, GA - June 4-5, 2005. Jimmy's workshops are highly recommended - I attended one last fall and I'm still busy working through all the stuff from the course.

Yeah I am aware of that, my teacher is Mark VanAllen and we had planned on making it; unfortunately I have to be in Nashville and Indianapolis through most of June and won't be able to make it.

Yeah that was the thought, I have no ambitions to be a tour pro but I'd like to learn the instrument. I figured if some bonehead slops a beer into it it won't be a total heartbreaker.
