Hi.
I'm just beginning to learn steel, and I need my own to practice on at home.
I'm looking for a single neck pedal steel with 10 strings, either 3 or 4 floor pedals, and knee levers. Not required to look pretty, but it has to be playable without being ridiculed it's in such bad shape. I also need a case for the steel, as well as a leg bag.
Does anyone have something like that? |

I don't think I could go past $1200 or $1300 (Canadian), But I'd like somewhere between $750 and $1100. |

Josh, Why not a Carter Starter. That's what they are designed for; to start. There is one for sale now on this Forum for $500.00. You would then need a volume pedal, an amp, and some type of seat and a few teaching courses. Your close to $1000 and in business.

Actually, I play guitar and bass, so I already have myself set up for pedals and amps and whatnot. Also, my Grandfather's teaching me toplay, So I just need the steel, picks, a slide, and the seat.
I looked at that thread, but the sysadmin closed it down. I also tried to contact the man By email, but no response yet. That would be the Ideal one, though.[This message was edited by Josh Watt on 02 August 2005 at 12:21 PM.] |

Josh,
I think there is a Carter Starter on ebay.
(Of course, you have to be careful with ebay but not everybody has a bad item to sell)
They do pop up now and then.
Good Luck,

Josh, if you are going to buy a Carter Starter, C. D. Richards, mentioned above by Jim Saunders, would be a very honest guy to deal with. I've bought a D-10 steel and a Melobro from him, and they were in excellent shape, as stated. steve t [This message was edited by steve takacs on 02 August 2005 at 09:28 PM.] |
