Does anyone know about a steel guitarist named Bobby Clement. The last time I heard he was in Alabama working at a country radio station.Bobby worked in Longview Tx. when I was a kid and he was and I gues still is one of the greats. He was a great E13th player and and helped me a lot when I was a kid.We worked at a music store together in Longview in the early 70's.If anyone knows Bobby or knows where I could get in touch with him please let me know. Thanks

Hi Rusty. I have also lost track of Bobby. I first met him when he was playing an old Multichord and was working with Tony Douglas. As you say, he worked in a music store in Longview and played at the Rio Palm Isle. The last time I talked to him he was at the Palm Isle. He was a great picker. I grew up in Tyler and learned to play steel with Bobby Garrett, and Al Petty. Left in 1955, but always tried to visit my old pals when I came to see parents. See you down the road, Jody.

Bobby was indeed a great steel guitarist, as well as dobro player. I got to know Bobby when he was a DJ at WERH in Hamilton Alabama back in the 80's when I still lived there. He and I became good friends. He then left WERH to work at WJBB in Haleyville Alabama. It was only on rare occasions that I saw Bobby after that. The last music job that I knew of him having was playing Dobro in a bluegrass band.

It is with regret that I must tell you that Bobby passed away a while back. I still miss "the doc", as he became known on the radio. He could sure make that Sho~Bud of his sing.
