Joan and I are still trying to recover from a packed full weekend in Dallas. The players were all so wonderful. I got to hear almost everyone play and it was so good. Great to see everyone too. I forget from year to year how many friends we have in Texas. My high spots were many but to mention just a few: 1. It was a true honor to be asked to be one of the staff bass players this year, and I have to tell you with Mac Macrae and Jr. Pruneda there I was plenty nervous.
2. Maurice Anderson is amoung my favorite players and hearing him is always a joy.
3. Tom Morrell and The Time Warp Tophands is the best western swing band in the world.
4. Last but definitely not least, my personal favorite as always was Joan Cox.
Thanks to Charlie Norris, Wayne Smith and everyone involved for allowing me to be a part of this years show.

You're right! Too many high points to cover them all. One of the greatest for me was meeting Mr. Reece Anderson. WOW what a tallent. Did you hear Reece playing that 10 string Dobro? Standing room only. It was a moment I'll remember from now on.

I'm so glad that I got to see and hear Buzz Evans. Had the pleasure of meeting him and his son also. |

Johnny, as usual you and Joan play a great show, and thanks for helping the sound people get the sound back on track. I believe you saved our whole week end. You and Joan are very special people to us. Keep on picking [This message was edited by Buck Grantham on 26 March 2002 at 07:54 PM.] |

No wonder Joan is your favorite steel player. She hauls around your triple neck Zum!! |

A cart with wheels is a wonderful thing to have when you are part owner of a triple neck pedal guitar.

Joan: Is there a chance there might be a triple neck in your future ?? Do you ever get to play Johnny's and if so what do you think of it ?? I once had a T-10 Marlen and felt like the Lone Ranger. When I looked at those pictures on the link Johnny gave some where else, I felt like I was looking at myself 38 years ago. Born too soon !!

Johnny.....I had a hard time concentrating on your playing because I was so interested in how enthusiastic Joan was while you were playing.....when a man's wife likes what you are doing that much, what other approval does he need? |

No, Paul..no triple neck for me..I've sat down at it a couple of times at the house..Johnny's got his own set up on it. After Maurice's set in Dallas last weekend, Johnny had his(Reece's)guitar over at our booth, and was figuring out what he was doing on the universal tuning. He started making some notes, and I guess this evening he will be making more changes to the triple neck. So even if I was making some progress on it, I will back to square one again. Yes, I am always excited to hear him play. I'm really proud of him too.
