Mr. Reece Andersons set in the practice room on that 10 string dobro was awesome beyond description. There were so many highlights in Dallas that it would take up too much of b0bs bandwidth to tell about them all but Reece on the dobro was surely one of the greatest moments.

P.S. Should have said Resonator but dobro is shorter.

Hey Rick,
Did you get a chance to find out what brand of guitar it was? Also what tuning Reece used on it? I'd be interested to know........Thanks, Jerry

Jerry, It was a Benoit Resonator and it was tuned to C6. It was the first 10 string Carroll Benoit ever built but you would think he had been building them forever.

Carroll lives just down the road and is a good friend of mine and a wonderful person!! He no doubt builds one of the best resonators available.

Rick, you are absolutly right, Reece really turned it on with both the 10 & 8 string.

Mr. Benoit is a local musician and builds really fine acoustic guitars. I didn't know that he built dobros although it doesn't surprise me. He has a geat Blue Grass group and uses a dobro player, fiddle, bass, acoustic guitar, and every other weekend features Bob Mathues on the pedal steel. In case any of you ever get to Southeast Texas he plays at Tuffy's restaurant in Mauriceville, Texas on saturday nights from 6pm to 9pm.

Hello Sidney Malone, I didn't know you were a member of the forum.

Rick GM....Thank you for your compliments. Carroll Benoit builds the finest resonator steel guitars I have ever seen, or laid my hands on.

Jerry H....The guitars are named Benoit.(pronounced Benwah)
I used a G6th on the 8 string, tuned top to bottom D/B/G/E/D/B/G/E. On the 10 string I used a C6th top to bottom G/E/C/A/G/E/C/A/F/C

Sidney M....Thank you for your compliments. Teresa and I plan to come see you, Larisa and Lindsey "Reece". While there hopefully we can all visit Carroll and Nita Benoit and see the resonator guitars in progress.

Doug C....When we visit there, Teresa and I hope to see you too.

Reece, thank you for your kindness in talking about Carroll's guitars with me last year. I bought a Koa & Spruce 6 string and it's all you said it would be and more.
They're world-class in every way.

Reece, we're looking forward to the day you, Teresa & FiEtte are able to make it down. Y'all are always welcome in our home and we included a bedroom for y'all in our new house plans. I think we'll let Linsey Reece use it while y'all are not here!!

Doug, this is the first time I've seen you on here also, I've been a member for a while, there's a lot of info from some great players on this forum!!!

Reece I will certainly make it my plan to see you when you come to Sidney's home. Thanks for your help in the past.I still have the MSA Classic in my collection. I changed the copedent from a pure E9th to one recommended by Roy Thomas. I'm sure you are familiar with it. Glad to hear you are planning to get back into the Guitar manufacturing business.

That 10 string was sold at the show. Actually, I think that most of the Benoit resonators on display were sold. They are incredibly beautiful instruments in appearance and tone.

I missed Reece's demo somehow.

I missed it too and I found that it is extremely difficult to kick your own rear end when you make a stupid mistake like that.
Anita and Carroll Benoit are nice people, it was a pleasure meeting them.
