When I was 18 or 19, I used to go backstage at Poco concerts and try to persuade Rusty Young to come play at the ISGC, but he always said he was too busy with Poco to manage that. Now I understand he lives in Nashville and I don't think he's touring these days, so... it's worth another try! Must be one or another of you guys who knows Rusty personally and can try to twist his arm to play the convention or another show this year? And, Rusty... if yer lurkin' out there, there's a whole bunch of us who would dearly love to see and hear ya again. We remember "Grand Junction" and you bet we remember "Kind Woman"!

Jim--I saw Rusty Young last summer at the Orange County Fair. Poco still tours doing fairs and small venues. He still has his chops. Besides the songs you mentioned, his right hand palm chimes on "Heart of the Night" still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I also have wondered why he is not more active with forums such as this.

Rusty does some great lap steel stuff
on Chris Knight's latest CD. He's a
singer songwriter along the lines of
Steve Earle.

John and I talked with Rusty Young today. He sends his warmest regards to all of you and looks forward to seeing you at a Poco gig soon. He sounds very well rested and happy.

Poco has a new CD coming out pretty s-o-o-n he believes.

And, new gig dates should be posted on his page at www.steelguitar.com pretty soon. He said they actually were at the Reno Hilton last week, but most gigs will not start until around April he thinks at this point.

He usually takes the winter off to write songs and then tours in spring and summer and into the fall ...
