I've just returned from attending my first NTSGA 'jam' at Bell Cove, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself (in a masochistic sort of way....)
Thanks to Ron Hogan, David Spires, Russ Hicks, Mike Johnson, John Hughey and Tommy White for the great music - and a special mention is due to that rhythm section; they must be a joy to play with!
Let me urge anyone who hasn't yet been to this 'Jam' to do so - it's excellent! My thanks to everyone who made my wife and I so welcome - we'll be back.....

I attended also for my first time, and I agree wholeheartedly, it was some great music. All the pickers were great and of course the drummer and bassman were super. Also Hoot Hester played some great rhythm guitar backup. I wouldn't have minded hearing some fiddle. It was the first time for me to hear Mike Johnson play live, and he is super and his tone was super also. I also loved John Hughey's new Zum. It was beautiful, kind of a sunburst red, with pearl inlay. |

I had a great time also. It makes a big difference when you get to play with a Rhythm section that plays so well!

Tuesday's super jam was one of the best attended jams. There were well over 100 people packing the house to see a great show. Ron Hogan, you were wonderful. You made your Zoom sing. David Spires was right there with you and Russ Hicks just makes it look so easy to play a steel. What can be said about the second set? Awesome is a word that comes to mind. Mike Johnson, John Hughey and Tommy White and they were fantastic. It was a fun night and no one enjoyed themselves any more than the players, unless it was Lloyd Green with his "tip jar!" It was great meeting you Roger. The next Super Jam will be in April so start making plans to come see it. |

Hi Folks....
If you missed our Superjam 9, You have been shortchanged in the music. We had a full show of the "Pro's".
The 1st set was with Ron Hogan,David Spires, and Russ Hicks. Thes guys ripped thru some of the best playing I've heard in a long time. For a hour and a half, the whole gaumlet of music was pounced upon.
The next set by John Hughey,Mike Johnson and Tommy White was above most everyone's wildest dreams. These guy's played on the PSG, numbers I thought could only be played a 6 string lead guitar. For another hour and a half, we were entertained, surprised and awed by the masterful skills of players truely gifted in the music area.
For the first time ever,(that I can remember) a standing ovation was givin' to a player, When John Hughey did his now famous classic "Look At Us", you could just hear the whole clubhouse stop talkin' and start listening. As the song progressed, you could have heard a pin drop,it was so quite. Some of us were moved to awe.
Eventho the photo's cannot begin to convey the enjoyment of this Superjam, they can be seen at:

We can all thank new "prez",Jan Jones, for the record crowd we had. He's the one that set-up the interview on WSM-AM,w/ Eddie Stubbs, for John Hughey & Mike Johnson. Jan is TOTALLY dedicated into making this club a success. I think that you'll see,in the near future, more "tricks being pulled outta the hat" from Jan.
