Has or is anyone else out there having any problems getting parts from Ed? I've been trying unsuccessfully to get some things from him for four months and all I get is one story after another. I've never met the man except over the phone and I can't imagine why he won't do business with me. I've even offered to pick them up personally. The only thing I've ever done via this forum was do business with Bobbe. You don't suppose........? No people bashing please. I just want to know if this is the way he does business or if it's personal. [This message was edited by RC Antolina on 16 August 2001 at 02:36 PM.] |

RC,
Yes, I tried back before Christmas to
get some Sho Bud Super Pro parts from Ed too.
After three or phone calls I finally gave up.

Ed is very slow in responding as I had to wait 2 months after I payed for parts. He is honest but just has too much on his plate. |

Thanks for all the e mails and posts. I'd like to make it clear that it was not my intention to villify Ed or anyone else. Public denegration is not my style. There's enough disension on this forum as it is without my adding to the stew. I had placed an order with ED that wasn't filled in a reasonable time frame and in as much as I don't ingress personally with anyone on the forum, the post was my only venue for checking on his business ethics and dealings. Ed has since posted that the order is on it's way. I will post if and when that becomes a reality................rc
That having been said, I need to clarify something else. I did business with Bobbe Seymour several months ago. I said it before and I'll say it again. We struck an agreement for the work performed. He lived up to his end of the bargain and to that end I was very satisfied. The work was done, the price was as agreed and Bobbe even took the time to throw in some extras I didn't expect. For whatever the reason my C pedal was left hanging an inch or so higher than I would have liked. That's when I decided to give Ed, as a forum member, a chance to make a few dollars. Regardless of some rather deletorius comments made by some concerning Bobbe, I truly believe he lives to promote and serve the steel guitar. I don't care or want to know about his personal life's travails. We all have had our share of personal tradgedies and mistakes that are for the most part, better left in undisclosed histories. That being said let's get back to Steel guitars. I apologigize for any misunderstandings. |

RC, thankyou for the understanding and acknowledgment of my terrible auto accident(concrete mixer,my lane, head on)and the mental anguish it caused myself and my wife of the time,in which the marriage was also lost due to this horrific accident. Many people have wondered what happend during this period of time as things were quite hard to keep up with. The biggest tragedy was the marrage, but the wreck was very hard on both our hard heads!I have kept a lot of these details from my forum friends but will get into details now on a personal one on one basis. E-mail or phone .
The wonderful things you guys are saying just makes me want to try harder to do my best for all of you. Just please understand,I have orders that get out late and people that I rub the wrong way that won't post here and now , but I say to them,We honestly are trying very hard to do our best.Thankyou all,and if you have a problem with my service,I want to be the first to know.I'll fix it!
Bobbe--------thnx |

I ordered some Sho-Bud parts from Ed via the telephone about a year ago. He sent the stuff out to me without me paying him in advance. He told me he'd enclose an invoice with the order, and to just send him a check when I received the parts - which I did. I thought that was pretty trusting on his part though.

I met mr Ed through the I-net about four years ago. I was just learning the steel guitar. I bought a used steel from mr Ed and recieved it about three weeks later, However the steel was old and in bad condition, I called Mr Ed and he said send it back. He sent me a new steel he had just built about three weeks later at no additional charge and i was happy with that. Mr Ed was fair and prompt with a beginner and i appreciate that.

I have ordered parts from Ed Naylor on at least six occassions. Each time Ed shipped the goods promptly and I am very satisfied with his efforts. Compared to some other sources his prices were very reasonable. Once again, thank you Ole Ed Naylor

My parts order from Ed arrived via priority mail on Saturday. Perhaps, as he says, his failing health along with his moving is responsible for the time lag. My apologies for using this forum to expedite our agreement. BTW Ed, you forgot to enclose the bill. [This message was edited by RC Antolina on 22 August 2001 at 09:49 AM.] |

I am happy to see that most people received good service from Ed Naylor...So..Ed, there's at least two people on here that never got their order. Don't pass up this opportunity to make good on these and perhaps other orders that have been forgotten or fell through the cracks.
I was mistaken when I said it had been 18 mo. since I placed my order (It has been 2 1/2 Years). The Space Shuttle has been up and back several times during that period.[This message was edited by David Martin on 23 August 2001 at 09:46 AM.] |

Hey Ed. Man I'm feeling bad for you. If you've never been in business its hard to imagine how many things can get in the way of successful completion of a deal. I'm thinking you've probably had thousands of customers over the years who have been satisfied with your service for the most part and this small, (albeit vocal), number seems like not so big a deal,(not my ox).
Stay focused pardner and you'll get caught up. Things will turn out OK before you know it. |

Ed did a great job for me and it was delivered Priority UPS two days before Christmas. Had me "sweat'n" a bit , but everything worked out fine. http://www.picturehost.net/st/002.jpg |

Hi folks-- Been pondering whether to offer my $.02 and decided I will. A few years back, not being able to afford a decent steel, the idea of building one popped to mind. After emailing Ed and talking a while, my wife and I drove halfway accros the state to his old shop because I could tell he'd take care of me.
Ed does not run a 'slick, glossy picture' factory. He's a really nice, 'one on one' country gentleman with a lot of knowledge and patience. Ed and his equally nice wife listened to what I said I wanted and then he started rummaging around to find what suited my needs. He even went 'out back' and did some millwork (for which no price was asked or added to the bill).
I ended up with a bunch of things from which I built two instruments - at a very reasonable cost. The wife and I enjoyed doing business with Ed enough that, later when I wanted some more things, we again took the drive to Portsmouth even though an email or 'phone call would have sufficed.
Ed Naylor is the kind of person we like to deal with. If there isn't an 'off the shelf' gizmo, he'll figure out something to work and won't max out your credit card doing it. I expect to do more business with Ed in the near future. --Everett |

Ed Naylor has treated me very nicely on several occasions. He sent me parts at no charge to see if they would work for me! (Call Carter,Zum,Emmons or anybody else and see it they will do that!!) After I inspected them and placed an order, it arrived pronto!!
I spoke with him the other day about some items and he explained that moving his ENTIRE business has been a major hassle and not through any fault of his own.
