This is my first post since joining the forum and it looks like a good place to get some excellent suggestions. Anyway, here is my question:

I have a 1939 Ricky in excellent shape but the case has seen better days. I would like to recover it completely with black tolex, similar to the Fender cases. Is there somewhere I can buy this tolex to make my own cover? Or, will the Ricky fit in a Fender case? I have previously built a new case for my Excel D-8 and it turned out pretty decent. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Aloha Andy,

Tubesandmore.com is the address for Antique Electronic Supply who carries various colored tolex. Stewmac.com takes you to the Stewart-MacDonald site. They only carry tolex in black, but the price is extremely reasonable. Vibroworld.com probably has the widest selection if you really want to get creative.

Thanks for the info Ron. Sorry I havn't got back to you sooner for our gig session but I have been really playing awful lately. Sometimes you just have to walk away from that thing and try again later. Anyway, I will check out these sites.

Andy,
Antique Electronics also had tweed covering, which seems (to me) easier to glue on because of it's weave.
