Back in the late fifties or early sixties there was an advertisement about learning to play the Steel Guitar. There was a guy sitting at a Steel facing you with his head down. His name is "Shorty Messer" I think that's the correct spelling. I know he worked on cars, a body man I think. But an excellent picker. The last I heard he was out Utah way... Does Anybody know his whereabouts? thanks

Your absolutely right Gene... I was in Amarillo Late Fifties and early Sixties.. Shorty played for "Lou Walker" at the time.
I don't know what happened to Lou Walker either. If you pin down the location or hear of it I would appreciate it... Thanks

I remember him well because I had to follow him. He was a kick A-- steel player and it took Merl awhile to except me after having him. Where he went I don't know but I bet Vick Ashmead or Jimmy Young out in Amarillo could tell you.
