Dear forumites, this summer i'll be visiting Nashville and i was wondering if any of you could help me find musicians or bands in the area i could play with. Also, while i'm overthere, i was hoping to see a couple of steelplayers perform live. One them being Lloyd Maines. Does anybody know if he'll be playing somewhere near Nashville between july 25th and sept 5th? Rob.

Rob, its my understanding that Lloyd now lives in Austin, TX..He lived in Lubbock ,Tx for most of his life..My son lives there and plays guitar and has known Lloyd for many years..After Natalie and the Dixie Chicks made it big time, Lloyd Moved to Austin.. As far as I know he is leading a "life of lesure" theses days..

Thanks Jerry for the information. Conveniently I want to spend some time in Austin as well, looking up Ricky and Dale&band. Perhaps I'll be lucky enough to run into him one day at the golf courses....

Just because his youngest daughter is one of the 17 richest women ever to emerge from a woman's womb, Lloyd is not living the "life of leisure." Rather, he's one of the busiest and most sought-after producers in the Southwest, still plays steel and dobro, and gigs constantly.

Hey Rob; the Dale Watson Band will be on stage at the Grand Ole Opry on Aug. 3rd and 4th.
We will also play the Opry Plaza(out in front of the Opry) on Fri. for sure; and maybe Sat.
So come on out and we'll see ya there.
Oh and I will have my golf clubs with me; if you or anyone is interested in a friendly High stakes Game..........

Hey Ricky,
I'll be playing at Jones Beach on Long Island on those dates. Sorry you couldn't get that gig, and have to settle for the Opry. Try not to be too jealous of me. .. Jeff
