Went to my Brozman collection and he indeed plays this song but without the fire of this recording. I'm glad to be corrected. Wow.
I guess I'm going to placing a CD order today, assuming its available in that format. |

There were some collections that Bob B put together and I know Jerry Byrd was on one of those tracks. I wonder if it was this tune and why I associated it with Bob. |

I would say that Jerry Byrd recorded this song at least twice over his long career. But always sounded just like ah, Jerry Byrd now. As Ernest Tubb would now-Jerry always has that special little wonderful sound.

As Ernest Tubb would say--Jerry did some fine backup playing with ET as well as solos.

I have this track on a CD called "Stars of the Steel Guitar". It's got some other really great cuts too, keep your eyes open for it. |

Hey Paul, does that album have Pete Drake doing Abeline?
If so, I think that's where this song came from

That's IT: Stars of the Steel Guitar. I have that CD. I knew the track was so familiar and I knew I had a recording with Bob Brozman doing it and hense the confusion. What a great track! I'm going to have to dig that up again. I bought that CD before I was into the steel much and it didn't get a lot of play time. |

Wow! well it's burnin' whoever it is . . This might be a little off topic but, the technique in the front section, . . . are they called 'hammer ons' and 'pull offs',(like it is for spanish guitar), on steel? If not, someone straighten me out as I'd like to refer to the technique in a future post/s . . .Tanx! |
