I finally found something perfect I could adapt into a lap steel stand. Currently the height adjusts easily from 25 inches to 40 inches with four spots in between those...

I know for myself sitting 25 + 2or3 is perfect, and as a 6 foot guy 40 + 2or3 inches is also perfect standing height.
Would anyone have a problem with a stand you could mount multiple steels on. It has a flat 38 inch by 3 inch top, and I'm thinking of using threaded inserts on the bottom of the guitar with 60s fender amp to cabinet bolts, to secure the guitar to the stand from underneath.
I'll post pics of my new 25"/40" stand as soon as the paint dries and I get some time..

Oh and it's rated for 1800 pounds so I think it'll last, and it even folds up into itself and has a built in carrying handle and is still running less then a hundred bucks...

Does anyone require a stand that is higher then 40 inches or lower then 25?

I use a two tier keyboard stand for my Stringmaster & Dual Pro. This works out nice if you are cramped for space. A simple A/B switch and you are stylin!

The stand is from "On Stage" No wobble either.

I can send a picture but can't post it up.

I've been "tauting" something similar for a few years ...
http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum2/HTML/002556.html

They are only $19.95 ... black, red or yellow powder coating ... Home Depot.

I've had BOTH a Dual Profesional and D8 Magnetone on it at the same time ...

I have two ... one with a platform attached ... and one especially "rigged" for a Frypan.

The only stand I've ever used that didn't "sway like a palm tree in a hurricane" ... while I play standing up ... I'm 6'3"

Its the only stand I will trust to hold my "Bronzepan" ...

My concern is taking it out to small club gigs. Rick, how much (approx) does your stand weigh? How easy is it to disasemble and set up?

Hey Rick,
Wow that is the exact same thing, Except I'm up here in Canada, & they are real ugly yellow, and just under $50.00 with taxes, and we just got them in!..I was walking in home depot saw them, and instantly knew I was buying one. I set one up to 40 inches, and couldn't believe what I was seeing!
I couldn't dream of better solution. The benefits beyond removable legs include, you can make a console board with a riser, and it's way more sturdy then 3 leg console. Or 2 steels side by side
I came up with two unique ways
to attach the steels to the board,
I bought a nice 4ft 1*10 and 1*6, and countersunk bolts into that and attached it to the stand.
I painted mine black first! At first I was gonna use threaded inserts on the guitar body
and get Fender amp head to cabinet bolts coming up from underneath, but then I remembered some of the pedal boards I've built and went Hey Velcro! where you been all my life. I got some indutrial strength velcro today and am gonna try it. If I don't feel safe with that, I'll just add one centered insert. The velcro seems like the best option for me Cause I usually have four guitars out playing and switching them around fast will be cool. Standing up will be so nice.
I bet the stand weighs around 18- 20 pounds with the wood.
I still can't believe how well this works.
With the 4 ft board I can mount any two of my guitars on it at once.
Anyone who needs a stand better check this out..
It's like it was made for steelers...

Ugly yellow ... They have them black and red down here too ...

Still $19.95 ...

Right now ... my two are pullin' double duty as a work-bench ... cause I'm cutting a very large piece of sheet steel ...

Try that with your vintage frypan stands ...

I don't have the accessories on it now {needless to say) ... but you can see the span of the legs ...

Thats my Stringmaster ... legs fully deployed (its too tall for me that way) ...

It weighs 18.5 lbs alone ... and it can be set up ... well as fast as you can undo and redo 4 wing-nuts.

As far as the "intervals" available for height adjustment ... you fine-tune by building your platform to meet your size needs.

Shoot, some of y'all may recall the "Lazy Suzan" with 4 detents that I had on it ...

Layed two steels nut to bridge ... and swung 'um around to get the far neck ...

Anyway ... whats that ... you want a better look at the Bronzepan sittin' on it ...
