Actually, the headstock is missing the second letter. This is actually the lap steel which belonged to "Doc" Tator, the well-known Hawaiian potato baron who first suggested to Joseph Kekuku that he use a steel bar instead of a French fry to get the sound he was looking for.
He later worked on a dog-potato hybrid combining his two interests of tubers and pets. His experiments were the direct ancestors of the famous "Spuds" MacKenzie.

Brad is correct. Doc eventually had to be hospitalized after applying sour cream to a chihuahua while his little brother Speck was forced to watch. But those were different- some say nonexistent- times. Call me old school, but for "ambient" sounds I still use those curly fries from Arby's.

Their two kids, the Tator Tots were always peeling out in Dick's car. I remember the time they almost backed up over their dog, Spud.
