I have added this real nice song to my list of tabs and MP3's for those interested in learning the C6th tuning.
It is not recording studio quality but is clear and done slowly.

Ooooh Ron, sooo sweet. One of my fav. tunes and so well played..thank you for sharing it with us..Tell me Buddy, are you using a high G? Kinda sounded like it.I'm just learning steel.Been playing reg. guitar for bout 60 yrs. and now that I'm no longer commited to making other people happy,I am devoting ALL my energy to the steel. God Bless Jerry Byrd.
Once again thank you..Just steelin away..P.J. |

Hi Papa Joe,
Glad you are into steel guitar now. Go for it!
I do not use a hig "G" on that cut. The tuning is standard six string C6th:
Low to High:C-E-G-A-C-E

Roy;
Very nice tone! I guess I'll have to do a little more ‘woodshedding’!
Infact, I don't play that tune at all, but; I have the recording to listen to and I guess I'll have to get started on that one! Sounds great! Everyone is lucky though, because; I can't dubb more than a 30-sec. WAV-Attachment and I don't know how to post it here or I'd do it with another tune or two on C-Diatonic! I'm sending a home-made Cassette-Tape of Instrumentals to Ray Montee tomorrow, but; I don't think my quality would be anywhere near good enough to Post either! I don't have a PC, so; I'm rather limited. I was lucky to hear your attachment with my unit!

Hi Mark,
Do you know Andy? He's from Bakersfeild too.
That recording was done on the back neck of my Carter D10. I selected 6 strings and tuned to standard C6th. Some of the guages
were wrong and the strings too "taut" but I
did it anyway.
I appreciate your response.
Good luck to you.
Roy

That was really beautiful Roy. I had heard that tune many times and never knew the title. That guitar sounded super, but I'll bet you would have sounded as good on any guitar you had around the house !!

You have that tune to tabs Roy?
E-mail me with a price list. That would sound beautiful on my D8.
By the way, I have been to NS at least a dozen times or more and I have no idea where Wolfville is? Please clue me in.
Les

Thank you all.
Maria Elena is a beautiful song. I first heard it performed by Los Indos Tabajaros
who made it a world wide hit back in the 70's I beleive.
Les, the information on my Tablature and the costs is in the Tablature Section of the Forum. There is a list there of the songs
I have available and Maria Elena has just been added this week.

Les, I almost overlooked your question about my home town.
Wolfville is a small University community, Home of Acadia, in the Annapolos Valley about an hour's drive from Halifax, the Provincial capital.
Thanks for asking. |
