I came across this one on ebay. Those wheel knobs are pretty cool. Who made this guitar? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2384&item=7307947417&rd=1

Ron,

It's a Teisco. It looks to me to be before, during or post war but likely pre-dating the heavy art-deco designs of the 1950's. During the war-era years the Teisco Steels were precurssor to their machining up for Spanish electric guitars as well, which started in the 1950's. For several years after the war their parts and hardware were often sorta archaic because most of Japan's manufacturing material was war scrap without the industrial base to recycle it well yet. The tuners on that one look to be rather recent replacement tuners ...probably Korean. There's some discussions here on the SGF about Teiscos that could be searched-out. An internet search for "Teisco" should bring up more information and I would have done that if I had the time.

Aloha,
DT~
