I was considering one of Herb's Playboy 8 stringers. Has anybody owned one of these for any period of time? If so, whadaya' think? At this point, it's come down to a Playboy or a GeorgeBoard. Any opinions?

Just depends on if you want a Steel guitar sound or pedal steel guitar sound?? To me the Georgeboard IS the steel guitar sound. Sure all the others sound Ok...but a real steel guitar sound; comes from a Georgeboard and all the others just wish they could.(oh and this is just my "Blunt" opinion of course

my dynalap 8 string steel kit is the way to
go. looks great , sound great. and is easy to complete, with a little work. also cost is much less and legs can be added.

I haven't played a Playboy but just played my GeorgeBoard quite a bit this weekend and still really love it. It's a fine instrument. I've got to get some of Herb Remington's Cd's . Andy Volk's interview with Herb R. in the Lap Steel book is too cool. |

I don't imagine that Herby would put out anything second rate with his name on it. I'm hearing great things about the Georgeboards. I wonder how the compare?

I'm sure the George boards are nice instruments, but I am just as sure that the instruments Herb Remington makes, given his background and track record, (not to mention that I have one sitting next to me right now) are probably not firewood either. And given that the one I am so supremely pleased with is his lowest priced model, I'd say they are an exceptional value for the money... |
