Okay,
Let's forget today happened. If the great Jody Carver can leave and come back I guess I can too. Besides I just did what any good person with post tramatic stress syndrome would do: I just bought a really big bottle of Jack Daniels and I'm sipping it now.
THAT being said: I just bid on this:

An ACOUSTIC Lap steel with a quarterman cone. The sound clip sounds fantastic. [This message was edited by Bill McCloskey on 01 March 2005 at 04:27 PM.] [This message was edited by Bill McCloskey on 02 March 2005 at 03:47 PM.] |

Let me be the first to say, welcome back, Bill -- it's like you never left!
Now just remember that friends don't let friends bid on eBay after drinking ... even though those Industrial lap steels DO sound very good unamplified! |

Too late Russ. Just bid $300. If anyone else was going to bid on it they'd have to go over that. So hold on to your money and let me have it cheap. |

Welcome back, Bill.
Wow, that thing has a really neat tone that's sort of flattop guitar, openback banjo, mandolin, and reso all rolled into one. |

I'm now heavely into the 3rd glass of JD so I can now say it:
I love you guys!
Thanks for letting me make an asshole of myself. |

Don't you be calling Bill an asshole. I won't have it.
I listened to those sound samples a while ago and was intrigued too. It's not high on my list of wants for now but I dig what this guy is doing. But what do I know--I'm a Rebel Yell drinker in Brooklyn. |

When you're rolliin' down the road at night,
and you feel that Wild Turkey bite.
Don't give Johnny Walker a ride,
'cause Jack Black is right by your side.
You know the rest.
Whatever it took.
Welcome back |

Beautiful tone for sure. And I hate to see someone drink alone so after this post I'm pourin myself a shot too.

I just received a very gracious apology from the person who set me off yesterday. I want to publically thank him for that. Personally, I going to erase the last 24 hours from my memory bank. I got a good start on it last night with the Jack Daniels: I jettisened at least 4 or 5 hours worth of brain cells. |

Yeah... surprising... very clean and full.
Unique tone, Mad Max design. It's got it all!

I like it.
What I liked even better was stumbling upon the story of Stanley James Snodgrass, whom after being rendered a quadriplegic, found an interest in Chris' guitars via Ebay and now has a rejuvinated interest in music. You can find him in the review section of the site.
Very inspiring and something I've long thot would be the perfect direction for anybody finding themselves in a bad situation as Stan did.
How many folks are or have sat in a wheel chair and wasted away physically and mentally that could have been saved by the steel guitar to have an avenue towards a meaningful life after such a tragic and depressing life change.
The steel can and has changed many lives.

I would like to hear how it sounds with vibrata on the tone bar, and judging by it's sustain it should be interesting. |
