A friend of mine is looking for a Hawaiian trio for her wedding in Los Angeles. She's looking for the slack key style of traditional music for the ceremony. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for any help/direction. Boo

I can't help you with the slack key side of things but if you want a steel guitar trio/quartet etc., call Duke Ching. You won't get the mellow-ethereality of slack-key with Duke though. He's more of a showman, night club musician. Email me for his contact info if you are interested.

Thanks for the info, Gerald. Unfortunately, she is looking for that earthy slack key sound so it compliments that ceremony. Thanks again. Boo

I've seen Duke "compliment" many a ceremony. Never an earthy wedding though.

He once told me a story about a gig his band had at a nudist colony. During the break his group was invited to eat dinner with the colonists. Duke politely refused... said he already ate.

He told me "I didn't want to eat that food, you don't know where those hands have been".
