Hallo dear stringmaster lovers,
I've just won an ebay auction ( Auction on eBay ) and the '55 stringmaster made it's long travel from the Twin Cities to it's new home here in Germany. It took 18 month to find me a pushbotton SM.
Under the frontneck tuning keys I found 10/55. So it's a 55 but IMHO the pots and knobs are brand new and I'm not sure about the pickups. Here are some photos, could someone tell if they are original or replacements, please. The knob photo is left side Fender Custom T8 '51 right side a knob from the SM T8 '55. The riffle on the '51 knob is not that fine as on the other.

Pots are definitely new (w/'05 & '06 D/C). Knobs appear new too, as do the pickup mounting plates. Pickups may be vintage (they appear to be), but that's no guarantee they're original.

Here is a link to Fender pots. Yours look new.

I agree that the pickup could be original. Here is a useful link regarding the pickups.

The insulation on the pickups wiring tells you a lot. See the link I sent.

You can have Fender pickups rewired by Lollar to original specs.
