Tonignt after attending my first Steel guitar Summit and meeting some great folks there, I played before family and friends at the local Comm. College. The program was classicial and modern arrangments and I played nylon on all of the sets. My partner Ed on a very nice Taylor and I on my 1930's Oahu acoustic lap steel played "Sleepwalk" for our duet. I did o.k. The folks after the concert were very complimentary about the steel guitar sound. I think I'll do this some more. Thanks to Rick Aiello for the summit, Ron Victoria for the arrangement of "sleepwalk" and Mike Nerr for the inspiration and all of my new family on the forum.

Glad to help. I have it posted on the Tabs board, but if anybody wants the sheetmusic, just shoot me an email. I must have sent to at least 40 forumites already.

Robert, good luck and that's a good first step. I played my first gig as a steel guitarist on 2/16/04. I won't forget that date because it wasn't until then that I realized how deep I'd have to dig just to keep up.

Thanks for the acknowledgement and I'm glad my playing meant something to you.

A word of advice for you first timers with stage fright. Just imagine that all the those people are naked and you are the only one properly dressed. This was told to me by my guru,Jack Shidler in Mishawaka IN in 1940 when I was going to Calumet City IL to play my first gig. cc

That doesn't work when playing at a nudist colony, though. Then you have to imagine the reverse!

Yrs ago we played a dance for nudist and thought we may disrobe. However the nudist took one look at the clothed physical specimans we were and decided we should keep our clothes on. They wee lousy tippers. cc
