Was there ever a lap steel with the Supro/Valco/National/Oahu pickup that was made in a longer scale length? Or were they all the short scale?
If so, how does it sound?

To quote fellow forumite Dan Tyack,
"My English Electronics steel (built by Supro/Valco) is 25 1/2" and it's the best sounding lap steel I have ever played." |

Thanks Charlie, I'd wondered that. Here's the English Electronics Tonemaster...

Glad to know this thing exsists!
Charlie, or Dan have you ever heard it compared to the regular short scale ones?
Thanks for the photo. Looks nice. I'll have to keep an eye out for one. I like the idea of having that pickup in a longer scale. It should lend itself to open D, or E better than the 22" scale
.

I love the regular Supro/Valco/National instruments, but the 25 1/2" scale instrument is the best, IMHO. These things can be picked up CHEAP on ebay (I just bought my third).
They will handle a C tuning no problem, with a matching string guage.
