Here's a little two-chord vamp I recorded early this morning,- it's not to be considered "a tune", just something I did to test a new microphone I got plus how these three new guitars of mine behaves in the studio.

It's a '50s small bodied archtop of unknown origin, Lazy River Teardrop Weiss and GoldTone/Paul Beard Signature dobro (the solid Mahogany model).

I haven't EQ'ed any of the guitars, just added a little compression on the two sliders, plus some reverb.. So this is pretty much how they sound in real life, three lovely guitars with strong individual personalities..

5 AM

Whatever you did with the mic it worked.
Great tone across the board. That is a great sounding guitar. Sometimes those unknown ones are the best.
WEhat mic are you using?

Oh, and keep em coming.

Very nice playing, Steinar! By the way, your "unidentified" guitar looks very much like a late '50s Harmony "Monterey" model.

Very beautiful, Steinar! Both the playing and the tone of the guitars (especially the teardrop!).

Thanks guys!

Gary, the mic is a cheap (almost "toy mic" price) condenser mic that's just been introduced here. It's made in China and cost approx $130 here (that is ridiculously cheap for a condenser mic here), I think I'll order one more of these so I have a stereo pair.
It's called TSM MT87S and looks like this:

Donny, I bought the archtop from a guy in England for about $150 on eBay, he said he believed it was from Germany, but who knows..
It's a small, almost parlor sized body, and it has a great crisp sound. I love this guitar, it's the one I pick up when I sit and play on the couch..
It needed to have some work done to the bridge, but besides that it's in very good condition. Has a huge fat baseball bat neck with no truss rod.

Steinar, this is beautiful. It's going on my iPod whether it "should" be considered a tune or not! It doesn't need much more to be developed into a tune or an interlude. The Imin to bVIMaj is such an enchanting harmonic motion too, I could listen to that for at least another ten minutes.

Steinar, I handed the headphones to my wife and she just said: "Can you play it again?". (Edit: Now she's listening to it for the third time and says "It's really great!").

Thanks for sharing this beautiful piece of music!

Beuatiful tune, Steinar. I saw on the Lazy River web site that Rance was building a tear drop model. Have to put that on my guitar wish list!

I must have played this 4 or 5 times with headphones on, while staring out into a foggy morning. Very nice! Thanks for posting it.

Lovely Steinar! It fits perfectly with our Sunday afternoon of heavy rain and the warmth inside our home. How about some more demos from 3 AM, 4 AM, 6AM... keep 'em comin'!

Nice, sweet-sounding, uncluttered pickup--I had a Harmony Monterey in the '50's with a pickup on it, it was a good guitar for the money.
