I recorded this one yesterday, mixed it this morning - once again with my trusty Talsma tenor uke.
I tried to add a steel part. I screwed around for about two hours and got nowhere. Sorry guys - but an accordion did the trick... so sue me!
It's a tune by one of my favorite American composers - Leroy Anderson. He composed such amazing pieces - most notably 'Sleigh Ride', 'The Syncopated Clock', 'Bugler's Holiday', 'Clarinet Candy', 'Belle Of The Ball' and 'Plink, Plank, Plunk'.
This one has always been one my faves. It actually topped the charts as a #1 hit in 1952!

Hey Gerald, that's pretty nifty sounding. When I was reading your post, I thought "Gosh, Geralds gone Newfie with a stomach steinway", but it really sounds nice. George |

Let's ask b0b to add an Accordian Page.
Seriously, I agree that it's suits the track.
IMO, it's about the music, not the instrument.
Choices need to made with that in mind.

Really great Gerald. Thanks for posting that.
Kind of interesting that you posted that here. I just bought an accordion this week. 3 row diatonic button type. Man, this thing is going to be almost as hard to learn to play as the steel. Having fun though.
Keep up the good work. Your site is wonderful.

I would really like to have a site in here where people can post their steel playing while playing with other instruments.
I have heard previously a steel and an accordion and they do blend together remarkably will.
My sister has a marimba and she and I have been doing a lot of work together and some of it is really ear catching.
We also hear now and then about our members playing with wind bands and other combos. We need to hear some of this stuff.

Orville Johnson has a project in the works in which he plays duets, with Orville on dobro and a variety of other musicians on other instruments. I'm looking forward to hearing it.

Ry Cooders' "Chicken Skin Music". Hawaiian steel, Tex Mex style accordion, Slack key and slide guitar. Hawiian country blues. It's like a big pot of Gumbo, served hot an spicy. A bit eclectic, but really cool. Ry Cooder is one of my heroes.

I couldn't find the tune. I'm a big Leroy Anderson fan, though. He wrote a lot of memorable instrumental tunes with great arrangements.
Your web site is really cool looking, Gerald!
