Attention Firefox users! Mozilla has just released Firefox 1.5.04, which improves stability and includes 12 security fixes, which are listed on my Blog. There are also details about using Firefox's tab feature on that Blog page.

Internet Explorer users are urged to try Firefox as it is much more secure against driveby downloads and does not use ActiveX at all. ActiveX downloads is one of the methods used to install spyware in Internet Explorer browsers. These exploits do nothing when a person browsing with Firefox visits a hostile website.

The only thing I use Internet Explorer for now is to check for Windows Updates, as Microsoft uses ActiveX for manual updates.

You can get firefox here.

Wiz, two of the fixes refer to "XSS". What is "XSS"?

Adorable.

And speaking of ActiveX, why do I keep getting a popup asking me about activating ActiveX on THIS (Forum) page, when I look at it? Is it because of b0b's movie clip?

You bet it is! I couldn't even type this reply until I disabled images, Java, and Javascript in my browser! That is one nasty Quicktime plug-in bug on Firefox.

I wish you would have just posted a link to the movie b0b.

b0b;
The movie loaded fine in FF. The problem showed up when I clicked on Reply and tried to type my reply. Nothing happened in the reply textarea until I deactivated JavaScript in my Options and reloaded the page. Then I was able to type my reply and submit it. Something about the script that calls on the QT plug-in is also interfering with typing into input fields while the QT movie script is active in the browser's memory space.

Thanks for changing it to a link instead of embedding the active content.
