Can anyone tell me what I absolutely have to retain in STARTUP. I just checked it out [haven't looked in there in a long time] and was just floored by how much junk there is:

shwiconem - SBDrvDet - PDVDServ - E_FAT19AA

UpdReg - jusched - zlclient - LogitechDesktop

CTSysVol - CTDVDDet - qttask - ashDsp

CTHELPER - SP2ConnPatcher - CTCMSGo -

Logi_MwX

I also immediately eliminated 7 others that were obvious, including another "qttask".

Thanks all, for any help here.

If you do a search on google for each item you will find out what it is.

The "CT" items are Creative/SoundBlaster - for your sound card.

The Logitech items are probably for your keyboard and mouse. (can't comment exactly as we don't know exactly what your PC configuration is or what is actually installed).

Although unneeded startup items can be cleared out, they don't really hinder PC operations in Windows XP, like they did in older Operating Systems and System Resources. If you notice XP does not even list "System Resources" as it's not the issue it was in the older OS'.

Thanks Jack,

If that's the case, I'll probably leave well enough alone.

Forgot to mention that I do have XP.
