I have in the Documents File list, the above titled file that is taking up nearly 4000 KB . Recently , we bought a new Dell with windows home XP o/s. My son , ( since I am on top of the computer dummy list) transfered for us all our document files and other data, that we had on our old computer ( Windows 98 o/s ).
I was wondering if I need to continue keeping this file on delete it ? I have no clue what it does. If it is an important file in the current Windows XP o/s I have , I don't want to mess with it. I am sure it came into xp from windows 98 when my son did all the transfering since the moderating date on it is back in 2001 while we had 98 o/s.
Can anyone give me some guidance? What the file does and if I should keep it or delete it.

| John - It's some kind of Microsoft Works script file. If you're not using Microsoft Works, I doubt that you need it. Try changing the file extension from ".csx" to ".old" If your computer looks for that file you'll get a window telling you it can't find it. Then, just change the extension back to ".csx" If your software never looks for it and you don't get any error messages, delete it. |

Bill,
Thanks for your info. I did what you suggested and got no errors. I deleted the file! I got a prompt on both settings that Windows could not find the file .
I assume that it went on out without changing anything else --so far at least. I will leave it in the "recycle"/B for awhile, if you think I
should, in case I need to send it back. Would that be you suggestion ?

John - It seems that some software is expecting to find that file so you may want to put it back. It would probably be safest to do that. Microsoft software is a real pain the a$$ because everything is linked to everything else and even though you aren't ever going to use the specific piece of software that file is associated with directly, some other program is expecting that file to be there.
That's why hard drives are as large as they are. You have to have a tremendous amount of storage capacity for all the useless Microsoft crapola you have no way of getting rid of. |

Bill,
Well, I'm afraid it is too late to return it ! After waiting some days and seeing that other applications / programs were working ok as before, I went ahead and dumpted the recycle bin.
Hope I did the right thing now that I got your last advisory.Guess I acted too quick.
Thanks again for your help! BTW, I sure agree about Microsoft!

| John - Don't sweat it. If everything's working OK, then either it wasn't a necessary file or the software regenerated it and you'll find it again in your documents folder. |
