I don't know what I did nor where but somehow all my icons carry colore background behind the text (like it used to be the case in earlier Win versions).
Can anybody please direct me to the place where to turn that off so that the desktop picture is visible all around the writing below each icon?

Thanks!... J-D.

Since no one has answered I'll venture a guess that if you right click on the desk top and go to properties, it's probably one of those settings. As I said, that's a guess. Good luck.

It may be Active Desktop that is causing the problem. See if this link helps or at least gives you a workaround: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=305117

Added Feb. 17th:

In case anybody wonders what solution worked for me:

Open the CONTROL PANEL,
Click to open the SYSTEM Icon,
Click on the ADVANCED Tab,
under PERFORMANCE click on the SETTINGS button:
The PERFORMANCE OPTIONS opens, if it did not automaticaly already click on the VISUAL EFFECTS tab:
There are 4 Dot Options and below, a box with checkable options... this is where MSFT recommends taking the check mark OFF on the option USE DROP SHADOWS FOR ICON LABELS ON THE DESKTOP... it did not work.
So, I went and on the 4Dot options above this box, I clicked on the first dot LET WINDOWS USE WHAT'S BEST FOR THE COMPUTER.
That solved the issue!
I then modified two or three things (which automaticaly set the dot option down to the fouth dot CUSTOM).
Funny however is, that the check mark MSFT recommends to take out is ON and that if I take it out the problem's back...

Anyway, this solved the problem.

Thanks again... J-D.
