I'm looking at all the books, CDs, tapes, and other items around the house that I no longer need, and thought of selling some stuff on Ebay or Half.Com.

But let's say I sell a CD for $4. After the service (Ebay or Half.com) takes a buck, and PayPal takes another buck, instead of $4, my CD brought me $2.

Since I have free web space with my ISP, I thought of making a "Yard Sale" page, and list all the items I'd like to sell.

How would it get listed in the search engines? For example, if someone types the title of a book or CD, would a search engine point them to my page?

Since eBay has so much traffic, I suggest you keep one item on eBay and put a link to your page in the description, "See More Item For Sale At..."

You don't have to sell your CDs as cheaply as $4 on eBay. Raise the minimum so that it's worth the fees. Start at, say, $7 and go from there. On your own, you'll never match the traffic that eBay pulls in.
